My name is Caryn Corey, and I’ve been an early childhood educator for the past 12 years. Working with children has given me a love of breaking a problem down into its base components and figuring out a system that works for the individual and community. For the past two years, I’ve been fascinated by programming, which has shown me an entirely new way to break down problems into a solution that has impact.

After taking an Intro to Java Programming course in 2018, I’ve been pursuing a path of self-directed study in computer science. When I completed my first website using CSS, HTML, and JavaScript I felt a sense of accomplishment in my problem solving skills. Now I’m hooked! My interest in computer programming leans heavily into user experience and how to create systems that work for many types of consumers. My recent studies have been in developing deeper knowledge of the various programming languages, frameworks such as Vue and Angular, and developing a variety of applications to challenge myself.

I recently enrolled in Tech Elevator's 14 week Full Stack Bootcamp in the .Net framework and I've been having a blast expanding my knowledge and making network connection. I have been learning about C#, MSSQL as well as API's and recently we've moved into front-end development!

I earned my B.A. in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati in 2014 and spent two years studying biology, chemistry and genetics. I’d consider myself a life-long learner with a love of imaginative thought and exploring new territory. In my spare time I enjoy tabletop role playing games, frequent meditation, yoga, and reading.

I’ve always had a love of science and have been fortunate to work for the last four years at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center as a full time preschool teacher. My goal is to continue working in a field that inspires me and that makes a measurable impact on the community.
